blood and battle
ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
It had taken some time, but they were finally settled. They had finally built a home for themselves. Agron and Nasir had settled on farmland, a home and goats to tended to. Agron had not known what lay ahead in a life absent battle … but this one, held more fulfillment than he could have possibly imagined. Nasir made it possible. Made him feel as such. Even with Agron’s physical limitations, his hands not what they used to be, Nasir took care of him. And never let him feel inadequate. Despite Agron’s own feelings of self loathing and frustration that he could not use the same strength of his hands.
Apart from Nasir, the goats were what eased his mind. What gave him purpose. Bonding with each and every one of them as he tended to the animals. Mutual attachment on both parts. It certainly helped that they were near friends; Sibyl and Laeta for instance. Ones who Agron and Nasir aided in taking care of to honor their fallen brothers. It was also where Nasir had found himself; to market with the women. Agron had decided to stay behind and work on the farm.
Though when he saw Nasir approach their home, he made his way to him, a smile upon his lips and prepared to properly embrace the man he loved. He wrapped his arms around him in a hug, often worried with him going on his own, however, the paranoia had somewhat eased with the duration of time they had spent here. Somewhat, though not fully set to rest. Agron doubted it would ever be. Drawing out of the hug, he looked with affection at his partner. "Did your trip to market bare fruit?" Had it been a successful one?

nagron goat farm
Though the days drifted by quietly, the shift from rebel warrior to goat farmer had been far easier for Nasir to adapt to than Agron, therefore Nasir did all he could to ease him into this new way of life. A new way of life that Nasir found increasingly comfortable. A roof over their heads, a plot of fertile soil, and a small herd of noisy creatures had all come together by their own hard work. Their lives made with their own hands, no matter how strong or weak they might be. This is what it meant to be free, to determine your own destiny. And Nasir had Agron to thank for it.
His outing with the girls had been a pleasant time, but he was always grateful to be back in Agron's company. Perhaps it was leftover from their rebel days, but Nasir still held onto small anxieties that at some point reunion would cease to happen. Small anxieties that this quiet life could not keep Agron content. Small anxieties that Agron's longing for battle would take him far from where Nasir could follow. These small thoughts ate away at him a little more each day, but he wanted to, he needed to trust Agron as completely as Agron trusted him.
He fully returned Agron's embrace and smile, swinging a basket from his shoulder to happily present that his journey did in fact, bear fruit. Lots of it. It also bore breads, vegetables, dried meats, wine and various odds and ends needed for the house. "I trust you kept the goats in good spirits?" His voice playful as he plucked a grape from the cluster it came from, holding it out to Agron and shaking his head when Agron moved his hand to grasp it. Nasir's eyes twinkled with the devil as he held it temptingly close to Agron's lips.
