love is a dangerous game There had been a great deal of fear running rampant through some of the cities of Rome after word was recieved of the actions of Spartacus and several other Gladiators. They had apparently attacked the nobles of their ludus and slaughtered everyone there who was not a slave. Secretly, Sibyl had wondered what the people there had done to incite such rage, but she dared not to voice such thoughts. Her family already thought that some of her ideas were odd, who knew what would happen if they were to find out that she was sympatizing with murderers and slaves?
She was in her room when she heard loud sounds outside in the courtyard. Looking out the window, she saw several men in varying degrees of dress attacking her father's guards. Without thinking of her actions, she opened her door to seek out the one person she was the most concerned about. However, she was surprised to see the man that she had been on her way to send to safety standing outside her door.
She was confused, but she knew that she could not allow him to be found here. She had a pretty good idea what would happen to a strong man like her dearest Gannicus if any of her father's men survived what she was sure was happening in the courtyard. Not to mention, the men that had descended on the villa would find their way inside to wipe out anyone left breathing.
"Gannicus, what are you doing in here? You need to get to safety. I have been saving coin. You can take it and start a new life where you will be free!"
This was possibly one of those times that she was at her most naive, but she truly believed that if Gannicus could escape during the chaos with the money, he could find his way to safety and freedom.
That thought was worth any cost in her eyes.

god of the arena
She was so fucking innocent that it killed him. They were surprised when the rebellion came to their door, but they had not been given a chance to agree to fighting--they had just been over taken. He wasn't sure if he would have agreed to it or not, but with no choice given, he had taken what he could. He had taken the choice of why he fought. Gannicus had fought with them to get too her side, knowing they would kill any Roman's with in. The other slaves would give her away but if he could get her away then they could hide until he could return her to her people, unharmed.
She was talking but he ignored her, instead stepping behind her to pull her back to his chest and his large hand to settled easily over her mouth to silence her words. "Be silent," he ordered, never having spoken to her thus. "They will come for you, we must leave before they do or your blood will be split." A warning that he hoped she really understood, "Leave with me, and I will see you safely from here." He wasn't giving her a choice, but he was making her feel as if she did. She might wish to look for the others but he would pull her out of here without choice. He had always found himself thinking of her, and beginning to really care for her; so he would make sure she got out of here unharmed. He wasn't sure how, but he knew he would.

Love is a dangerous blade When Gannicus pulled her back against him, Sibyl was torn between surprise and the flicker of joy. How often had she wanted him to hold her but she didn’t dare to act upon those desires when it could endanger his safety so much. It seemed unfair that she would only feel his arms around her right when they were to be parted forever. He would have freedom and she would see death. After all, how could it be anything else? Even though she had tried to shield what slaves she could, she was still a noble; still a hated Roman.
She was everything that Spartacus and his rebellion hated. She was not disillusioned about what her fate would be.
As he spoke low to her, her eyes widened when she understood what he was saying. He meant to take her with him? How could he hope to accomplish this when they were overcome? Did he not realize that she would willingly face her death in order to see him free?
Did he really not know of the accord she held for him and the truth that he held her heart and always had?
She nodded, wanting him to remove his hand so that she could once again urge him to leave with these men so that she could know that he was free.
Later, she might be given cause to wonder why she did not spare thought for her family or any of their friends that had been in residence. However, right now, she thought only of the safety and well-being of the man standing at her back.

She obeyed and he exhaled in relief. He removed his hand from her lips and spoke again, explaining to her the plain that he was making up as he went along. They had not known that the rebels were coming, so the moment he knew that they were here, he had made to move to get to her. The rebels would not care that she had done nothing to anyone, and would kill her with out thought or care. "You need to appear as slave," he told her, knowing they needed to change her from Roman clothing to something a slave would wear, "and find collar to put on you. They might not check for brand tonight." But he knew they would eventually.
Some of the slaves might pretend for her at first, but he was hoping to get her away from here. If he could follow the rebels out of here, and break off to get her to the city, then the Romans would take care of their own. If they could not break off from the rebels then he would need to find a way to brand her, and show proof that she was a slave, while staying hidden from her father's slaves that would not lie for her.
Moving toward the door he picked up the clothes that he had gotten, and brought them too her. "Be quick, we need to move with haste."

Love is a dangerous blade
Sibyl was almost certain that this would not work. After all, even though she had never raised her voice or said an unkind thing to a slave in her parents' house in her memory, she knew that they would certainly turn against her and reveal who she was to those attacking. However, for now, he was talking so quickly and outlining everything that he wanted her to do that she didn't think of anything but agreeing with whatever he was saying.
When he mentioned that she would need a collar she cleared her throat and pointed to her small table by the bed where the idols of her gods stood. "In that drawer lays hidden collar." She lifted her chin in a slight show of defiance. "I took it from neck of Minnaris before I directed her out of the town and to her chosen path." Helping a slave escape was one of the few secrets she had ever kept from him, but her personal slave had been her friend, first, and she would have done anything to spare her unhappiness.
She accepted the clothes and nodded, turning her back to him to tried and hurriedly untie the dress she was currently wearing. If he said they had to hurry, then hurry she would. There was no time for modesty when her neck was on the line and Gannicus was risking his to save her.
"Would it not be easier for you to escape if you were to leave me behind, dear one? I would not have my life endanger yours."

god of the arena
Gannicus knew his plan had flaws but his only other option would be to let her die. He just needed to keep her safe long enough to get her from here. A night. Maybe two. She took the clothes the moved to change and at first h thought nothing of it, while he moved around the room looking for something of use. Something to change her hair color, or hide her face. When she spoke about him leaving her, he turned to look at her and paused. He had not been allowed to really look at her before, and seeing her now while changing her dress made him almost forget everything else.
"I would not have my life endanger yours." He felt the same. He had not dared think she would, but hearing it made he. Not caring that she was busy trying to change, he moved forward and cup her face, before stealing a quick kiss. Their first. Pulling back from the kiss he rested his forehead on her's for a moment. "A feeling I yet return to you," he admitted, before setting back to allow her to finish. Turning back to the room, he gave it one last look before seeing there was nothing. "Is there another way to leave?" Some way the rebels would not know about, and they could leave? If not then they needed to cover her hair with some cloth and hoped no one got a good look at her face in the dark.

Love is a dangerous blade Their first kiss...
Sibyl was blown away by even that quick touch and wished that they had time for more. However, she also knew that time was not on their side. If they had any chance of getting out of this alive, they could not afford to take the time she wished in order to kiss him like she had long wanted to. The fact that he shared her feelings made her feel much warmer within and a little less afraid of the potential of going to her death.
It also made her even more determined that she would do everything that she could in order to make sure that Gannicus would get out of this alive. No matter the cost.
She finished with the ties on the dress, and while the dress did not hang at all perfectly, she was quite sure that it was a good thing. It added belief to their story that she was a slave.
At his question she thought for a moment and then nodded. "There is door in my father's room that leads to a secret hall that we can follow to the outer edges of the yard." She swallowed. "He had it built for ease of him being able to escape if there was ever danger."
His escape. Leaving her mother and her behind to face what they would. It was not something that had ever surprised her as she knew the worth that her father had applied to her life. She wondered if he had even gotten close to his precious door when the attack began.
Then she wondered if the gods would be angry with her for not feeling more honor or grief for her father's fate.
