A Gained Sister But Lost Brother

After intense searching she had finally been found. But it was a bittersweet, short lived reunion. Crixus was captured by the others and Crixus entrusted him and Spartacus to take Naevia to safety. It was difficult, to see a brother dragged back to Roman clutches, but he would honor him the best way he knew how. For if situation were reversed, he would want someone looking after Pietros. The journey back to the temple was quiet, as they mourned those who had been taken. Crixus, Acer, Rhaskos. Barca had been among the few that were not Gauls, but his loyalty to the man equally, if not more strong. When they reached the temple, and everything was settled, Barca took noticed that Naevia separated herself from the others.

She was dear friend to him, as they had spent so much time in the house of Batiatus together. It raged him to know what she had endured as a result of a jealous domina. Approaching her, he extended a plate of food and a cup of water, while seating himself next to her. He was unsure what to say. Words were not always Barca's strong suit. So he just sat in silence for some time, wishing he could tell her that they would get Crixus back. But he was as good as dead. "No words I can offer will ease heart," he began to say. And knew there was no point trying. "But I know all too well the suffering of such loss." He had lost two that he had been in love with, and Crixus was his brother. The sting of his death would be felt for much time to come.
