Barca was no fucking bodyguard. And yet, Batiatus had thought to make him one today. He often accompanied his Dominus to market, but today, he was accompanying a Roman guest. The wife of the Aedile, both here on official business. While the men talked, she preferred to roam the streets of Capua while Lucretia remained unwell for company. And it left the Gladiator walking at a suitable distance behind her. Close enough to protect her, far enough to know his place as slave. Barca's eyes were highly aware of their surroundings. He was armed with a dagger which was tucked away, and it would be all he would need. Besides, Barca doubted that anyone was reckless enough to attack her in the middle of the day.
Especially with the Beast of Carthage in her fucking shadow. Once they stopped at a stall, Barca stood there next to Laeta, eyeing the merchandise as the vendor gave price to the inquiring guest. An outrageous price at that. Which resulted in Barca glaring at him, a dead pan gaze as if to wordlessly tell him not to fuck over Laeta. Merchants always tended to overprice things to visitors. The Gladiator's gaze fell to a piece of jewelry. An arm band, and he couldn't help but think how nice it would look on a certain someone. "How much?" He asked, his voice holding the sternness to discourage the vendor from even thinking about over charging him.

❀Laeta ❀ Laeta was a gentle soul who did not often see the need for protection, but as this was a strange city, she agreed to let her host send one of his slaves to guard her. She wasn't sure what she hoped for, but a large silent and scary man wasn't it. She felt nervous just being in his shadow, and ended up trying to talk to him about nothing he had to care about. She did note that sometimes the vendors would lower the price of things when he glared, and she would only smile at them and pretend not to have noticed. When the beast finally spoke up, Laeta felt the need to return the favor of his lowering her prices all day. "That looks to be small for one so large." She commented, wondering why he would wish it. Did he have a son? She looked at the merchant, "Add the sum to mine." She told him, holding up what she wanted, and letting the seller hand it to Barca to carry. Laeta didn't see it as a grand gesture. She had lots of coin. More then she could spend at a market that hosted things that she could get at home with less cost. She was doing it because the small gesture would show thanks. She believed in showing kindness, and getting loyalty from that. She did not see the point of blindly expecting one to die for her, if she had not even expressed her thanks.
