blood and battle
ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
Agron was not sure what he expected but certainly not this. Though, he supposed he had not expected to survive his own crucifixion and yet . . . he had. And returned to the others, only to find that the man he loved had slept with the very person who had caused rift between them. Agron had left with the intention of Nasir finding eventual happiness, but this? This soon?It caused whatever was left within Agron's heart to ache.
Absent Nasir, he was left with nothing. No brother. No ability to fight . . . nothing. The need to be alone consumed him as he found place of isolation. He had heard that others held games in the honor of the fallen and Agron now sat in the stands of it, looking at nothing in particular upon the makeshift arena. His mind thinking back to times when he and his brother fought in it. How so many had fallen in it. He was so lost in his thoughts he had not even heard anyone else approach, having thought this be a place that no one else would come to. He felt utter shame and humiliation upon the state in which he returned. Gashes on his body, bruises on his face, holes in his hands and . . . a broken heart.

❀Laeta ❀ In the beginning she had been his prisoner, and feared that if she had not shown him kindness he would kill her. Though he never once wavered in his protection. He had defended her against his own brothers, and she knew that could not have been easy. Which was why later when he had helped build her tent she had thought they had begun a small step toward an understanding, and even respect. She had come to care about a few of the rebels, and he more so then some of the others. So when none could find him, she joined the small search to look for him. It was only herself and the Medicus looking, as they were supposed to check on him. Upon finding him on the steps of the arena, she gave pause. Slowly she walked down the steps and came to sit on the step below him, so that he was almost forced to either look at her or over her head (which wasn't hard for a man his size). "Spartacus spoke of why gladiators loved the fight, even while hating the chains that forced upon them." She spoke, assuming he was looking at the arena because he could not fight any longer. "But know your worth to others is more then your strength with sword." She knew that Nasir loved him, and Spartacus spoke often of his brother.

blood and battle
ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
Agron did not react to Laeta's presence as she moved to sit across him. He did not get up to leave, wishing to place distance between himself and a fucking Roman. He knew Spartacus held strong affections for it, and it was why he had initially sought to protect her. But the active role he had taken in aiding her, could not solely be blamed on his brother of heart's fondness for her. Admitting that however, was not something Agron would so readily do. He remained silent, eyes still gazing at the arena.
He had not basked in the glory the same way as the others had. Perhaps, given time, he would have. But his concern had always been for his brother. Unsure as to how many moments of silence passed, he finally responded to her words. "My worth, was taken from me the moment fucking nail pierced palm." He was under no false illusions that without the use of his hands, he was nothing. He held no purpose here. Not even as a lover for Nasir had chosen to lay with Castus. "For many, free men and slaves, fighting is all that is known to them," he added on, referencing both her initial words as well as a personal reveal; that he knew nothing beyond blood and battle. He knew nothing absent the life of a warrior.

❀Laeta ❀ Her heart broke a little at his lost, knowing that they had done a lot of pain to him before adding a nail to his hands. Clearly they had planned for him to live, or why else aim for his hands? Laeta wanted to reach out to touch him, and offer comfort, but she doubted that it would give him any as she was Roman and he had voiced his hate of everything Roman. She did not want her touch to be a painful reminder. "Your worth only changed," she told him, "as did mine. All I had known was the city I loved. Now I will be something more." She did not know what other skills he had, but she knew what others saw in him. "The Romans cannot take title of brother, that others have given you. They cannot take title of friend, or lover, or council." He was still of worth to the people that loved him. She knew his Nasir had missed him greatly when he had left. Surely he saw that his life still held meaning to so many. "The title of friend is one I give you when you are near, so not to offend you." She teased, though her voice held little of any light feelings, as she felt for him. The tease meant to suggest she only called him her friend when he could not hear. He was one of the only few she had in this world, after all the others were killed and she was sold to the fucking pirate. "Rather the lift sword, you can lift voice in council to others who wish to lift sword." Training others to be like him.
