.:Nick Name:. Thracian, Bringer of Rain, Slayer of Theokoles
.:Affiliation:. Gladiator, Rebel
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Tall and well muscled, Spartacus is easily recognized as a gladiator. His brown hair is kept short, even after his days as a slave, and his face is often covered with rough stubble.
.:Height:. 6'2"
.:Portrayed by:. Andy Whitfield and Liam McIntyre
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Though normally a serious man who tries to keep focus on the task at hand, whatever that may be, Spartacus can be playful and kind hearted toward those who he considers a friend. He believes that no man should be held above others, a fact that led him to start the rebellion in the first place, and fights so that all who are considered slaves may know freedom from their so called masters.
Spartacus shows no mercy toward his enemies, and can be ruthless at times. However, he is not a cruel man, and will attempt to avoid unnecessary violence and death, especially for those who he considers innocent.
.:Special Skills:. Due to his training as a gladiator, Spartacus is skilled in many styles of combat and can use several types of weapons. He can use a sword and shield, a single sword, dual swords, spears, and is highly capable in unarmed combat as well.
While fighting as a soldier along side the Romans, he developed skills as a strategist and tactician, allowing him to find solutions to problems originally deemed unsolvable.
.:Weaknesses:. Spartacus' people skills often leave a lot to be desired. He can sometimes push others away unintentionally due to his to the point manner of speaking.
His emotions can get the best of him at times, causing him to act rashly and bring harm to himself or others.

.:Birthplace:. Thrace
.:Family:. Sura
.:Occupation:. Leader of the Rebel Slaves
.:History:. Originally a Thracian, Spartacus grew up in constant battle with the Getae, who often attacked and murdered his people.
He was a well known and well revered womanizer in his youth, sleeping with many women in his village before meeting and falling in love with Sura. He eventually married her, and remained loyal to her even after her death.
He, along with the other men from his village, eventually joined the Romans in war against the Getae and Mithridates, but became angered when his commander refused to protect his village from their enemies. After attacking his commander, Glaber, Spartacus rushed to protect his home, only to arrive too late to save anyone other than Sura. They were both captured later by the Romans, who had tracked them down with the intent of punishing him for his actions.
Spartacus was sent to the arena to die, only to amaze the crowd by killing the four gladiators facing him. He was then purchased by Batiatus to be trained as a gladiator himself, but his refusal to cooperate caused difficulties, and it was only after Batiatus promised to return Sura to him that Spartacus began to work with Doctore and the other gladiators.
At first, Spartacus is only concerned with defeating Crixus, the reigning Champion of Capua, but after being defeated by him in the arena and being sent to the Pits for losing his honor, Spartacus returns his focus to training and finding his wife.
Later, Spartacus defeats Theokoles, with Crixus' help, and becomes the new Champion. Shortly after, Sura is returned to him, only to die in his arms, mortally wounded by alleged attackers. With nothing of his old life left to cling to, Spartacus severs all ties with his past, and becomes a true gladiator, loyal to his Dominus.
It is not until later, after the death of his best friend, Varro, during what was supposed to be an exhibition match, that Spartacus remembers that he is still a slave, and that all slaves are treated as tools to be used for the entertainment of their masters. Enraged and unwilling to allow others to die for Roman pleasure, Spartacus organizes a successful rebellion within the ludus, and kills Batiatus along with dozens of other Romans.
He and his new army of freed slaves leave the ludus behind, and set out to free others from the same bonds of servitude.
