blood and battle
ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
It had been some time since Laeta had passed and things had fallen into a solid routine. She had not survived childbirth and her death had certainly taken a toll on them all. She had become a sister to them and now . . . she was joined with Spartacus in the afterlife. The daughter she birthed however was all that was left of both Spartacus and her, so to honor them . . . Agron and Nasir had taken it upon themselves to raise her. There was no shortage of love and adoration placed upon her and together, they were a family.
Agron currently had his arms wrapped around Nasir, his chest pressed against his lover's back, in a deep comfortable slumber. But the stirrings of a baby quickly pulled it him from it. Agron took in a deep breath, the whimpering turning into a cry. "Fuck," he breathily cursed, carefully moving so not to wake Nasir. No need for both of them to get up. Agron quietly walked over to where the little baby slept, carefully lifting her into his arms and proceeded out of the room, gently rocking her. "A change or food to ease your tears?" He asked her, leaning forward to place a light kiss on her forehead. Drawing his head back up he looked at her with a quirked brow. "Smell reveals answer." She needed a change.

all you need is love
As careful as Agron had tried to be, the child's cries had already awakened him. Agron's grumbly curse tickled the shell of his ear and caused a smile even as he pretended to slumber still. The man had a way with words -- or at least that particular one. Once Agron eased from the bed and padded across the floor, Nasir sat up, resting on his elbow to watch in adoration. He hated to admit it, but Agron had taken to this parenting business much better than himself. It was like Agron was made to be a father. Children instinctively flocked to him and reveled in his attention and company. Nasir, on the other hand, held a sort of nervous worry about him. He cared for children greatly but found them fragile and at times even intimidating. Watching Agron with this child, Laeta's child... their child, he could see a whole new gentleness that little life invoked.
It was a bittersweet feeling he supposed. Fatherhood seemed such a blessing for Agron but Nasir regretted it was a blessing that he was unable to give. If Laeta had survived, they would be uncles, not fathers and Agron would live his life without any small voice ever calling him papa. Agron's hushed words brought him back to reality and he stifled a laugh, fondness softening his eyes while he watched.

As Agron made his way back into their room, he took notice of watching eyes upon him and smiled at his lover. "Apologies," he said sincerely, making way to where the cloth was so that he could wash and change the baby. "But as you now awake, care to aid in the washing?" He asked him with a smirk playing on his features. Their daughter made a little noise. "She seems to prefer your company." As did Agron. But of course, he could appeal to Nasir with the innocence of the child's plea . . . or, whatever noises of crying she made due to her discomfort.
