blood and battle
ARE ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN
There were new recruits among them and Agron was watching as they trained. There was one in particular that held his attention. He appeared to have training, for he fought like a gladiator. But the German took notice of his leg brace.
It reminded him of Ashur, yet the rebel before him did not seem as . . . hindered as the other had been. After seeing a couple of them spar, Agron approached the other when he took break for a drink of water. "What name do you go by?" He asked him. The larger male took great pride in his position of being general and with that, came the dedication to assess the various rebels. This particular one, intrigued him.

Play To Your Strengths
Nennius was parched. Sweat trickled down his brow and dripped from his chin as he took a break to fetch water. He took several large drinks before noting the man that came his way. Although they hadn't met before, Nennius recognized him by rumor and gossip. This was Spartacus's General.
"Nynniaw," he answered quickly. It was a name stripped of him years ago and yet it slipped from his mouth as if it'd been with him this whole time. It surprised him and somehow, although it was the truth, it also felt as if he were lying. "You are Agron, are you not?"
Nennius, offered the water ladell, and stepped back so that he might drink first. It dawned on him that the Nennius he was sometime ago, hot headed, ego driven, prideful, self righteous, that Nennius would look at him now with disappointment. But that would be okay. Valerius had taught him, slowly but surely that being dominated wasn't always a bad thing and it didn't have to mean the loss of oneself.
Being humble was okay too. He grinned a little to himself, clear blue eyes looking up through dark lashes to the General. |
